Big Idea

160 NPR Member Stations across the United States, are to be moved off of their current CMS, Drupal, and to their new home, Brightspot.

Design a highly uniform solution that fits all the different requirements each station has, keeping in consideration usability, interactivy, content publication, and SEO.

Key Learnings

It's harder than it sounds to make 160 different people happy with one solution. Followed the 80/20 rule which is best in general to keep vthe larger percentage and not get caught up in edge cases.

  • A library of interchangable components allowed stations to get the feel of customization without having to build every single desire.
  • With so many variations in audio and video preferences, a global media player was constructed to follow you around the site.
